St. Jude Trike a Thon

So much fun on Friday with the Trike a Thon!
Five years ago, when teaching k5, I started the BSS St. Jude Trike-a-Thon.  Students raise money for St. Jude Cancer Research, learn about bike safety, and end with bringing their bikes to school and riding them!  I am so thankful and glad that Cathy Delpit took it over when I moved up to second grade.  This year the 5th Annual Trike-a-Thon was Friday, and now my son was participating in it!  It was such a sweet feeling to see something you've started up progress and carry on, and the icing on the cake was watching my son get to enjoy it as well.  There were three or four of my second graders who had younger siblings in the k5 and k4 classes as well so we were all able to watch and show our support.  As well as have some fun cheering them all on!

What a Week!

WOW!  What a week!  From our "adopted" Cardinal being elected pope, field day-field trip, and tomorrow we will be in the St. Patrick's Day Parade!  Oh, and best of all..... 90% of the class has been on OUTSTANDING for the past three days!!!  :)

Writing Time!

This afternoon we became engrossed in our writing.  After talking about different writing styles, etc.  Everyone was diligently working on a newly inspired writing project!  Loved to see everyone becoming such awesome writers!                                       Mrs. King

Spectacular Day!

Spectacular Day!   Today was such a great day, which was just a carry over from yesterday's great day.  The students really enjoyed yesterday's virtual field trip to the Smithsonian, and so did Mrs. Delaney and myself.  So much so that both Mrs. Delaney and I will be looking into buying one of the 39 clues books (author and the snippet we listened to was pretty interesting and seemed super fun!).  Here's to a Terrific Thursday tomorrow!!!
