What could be more fun than "Bullwinkle" math?

The students LOVE playing "Bullwinkle". It's a fun math game to help them practice the strategy of making 10.

Class 2K has been very busy these first few weeks of school, and we're rockin' and rollin' in our daily routines and procedures!  We learned how people are like apples in an "Apples and Actions" activity.  We learned that like apples, our feelings can become bruised and hurt.  We compared our green and red apples using a Venn Diagram, then sorted examples of kind, unkind actions.  We also began our Social Studies unit on maps and created a classroom map to scale!  The 2K class is so excited continue learning and growing this year.

Our book boxes are finally in!

Can't wait to fill these with "good fit" books! We've built our reading stamina, I've begun my individual assessments and we've practiced and learned about all 5 "Daily 5" aspects.  What's the "Daily 5"? Researchers studied and followed a large group of children and discovered that children who participated in these five activities (Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Word Work, and Work on Writing) DAILY became better students academically overall, and developed a love for reading and writing. What could be better?!
